Ronaldo, the new disillusionment

AFC Champions League 2 finalist with Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo experienced another disappointment this Saturday.

Since his arrival in Saudi Arabia in January 2023, Cristiano Ronaldo has barely won an Arab Champion Clubs’ Cup just a few months after his arrival. Never yet crowned champion – which will perhaps happen next week when Al-Nassr is two steps ahead of the second before the last round of the championship – CR7 since then has had one series of disappointments.

Beaten in the finals of the Saudi Arabian Cup and Super Cup in 2024, the Portuguese goleador failed again in the final stretch this Saturday, this time in the final of the AFC Champions League 2, the equivalent of the Europa League in the Asian Football Confederation.

Opposed to the Japanese club Gamba Osaka, the Riyadh team lost 0-1 on their own turf, surprised after half an hour of play with the only opponent’s shot on target of the match. And this despite the presence on the field of Joao Felix, Sadio Mané and Kingsley Coman, in addition to Cristiano Ronaldo.
