Arriving on the OM bench last October, Corinne Diacre chose not to extend. She explained why.

After a long break following her ouster from her position as coach of the France team in March 2023, Corinne Diacre returned to business with Olympique de Marseille. Appointed coach of the women’s section, the former player fulfilled her contract by validating the maintenance of her team in the Arkema Premier League. However, she did not wish to extend.

Once OM’s ninth place was validated, Corinne Diacre spoke with her management to discuss the main points of the coming season. But obviously, the club was not ready to give him the means to achieve his ambitions. In any case, this is what she explained this Saturday in the columns of The Team.

“I had a one-year contract. The idea was to take stock at the end of the season. The objective was to obtain maintenance, which we managed to do with my staff. We had started some discussions. We did not reach an agreement, in particular on certain workforce guarantees. » Stating that the separation took place “on very good terms”Corinne Diacre then explained that Marseille’s objective for next season was “much more important”.

Corinne Diacre ready to leave

For this, she therefore demanded more resources.
“I had asked for a certain profile of players, in particular rather international profiles, even if I had some, but not necessarily in teams in the FIFA Top 10. (…) My general director, Stefano Petruzzo, told me that it would be complicated (…). I hear it and I suppose that, behind it, there are budgetary decisions to be made. »

Sometimes targeted during the season, notably by one of her players with whom she confirmed having had a discussion to ” wash (her)
dirty laundry with family »Corinne Diacre indicated that she was on the lookout for a proposal for a new project.
“My agent already has some leads (…). I’m ready to leave pretty quickly. »
