After a clash made public between Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde, a humiliating defeat which gave the title to FC Barcelona during the Clasico (0-2) and an incendiary speech by Florentino Perez against the Spanish press, Kylian Mbappé chose the best moment to settle scores publicly with Alvaro Arbeloa: “the coach told me that I was the fourth choice in attack (…) No, none (problem with the coach, editor’s note), but we have to accept the coach’s decision. I have to work to be better than Vini, Mastantuono and Gonzalo…”he said in the mixed zone after Oviedo.

And with such speaking out, the internal tensions around Kylian Mbappé take on a new dimension, after the captain of the Blues was criticized for a lack of involvement and a getaway to Italy. And Real Madrid will now take action. According to A.S.Florentino Pérez has planned a meeting with the French striker in order to clarify several tense episodes that have appeared in recent months in the Madrid locker room. The president and managers particularly wanted to know the player’s state of mind and his intentions for next season.

Real Madrid worried about Mbappé’s attitude

This meeting, initially thought of as a discussion intended to re-establish dialogue, became urgent after Kylian Mbappé’s statements after the match against Oviedo, where he was whistled, and his media exchange with Álvaro Arbeloa. “If I don’t make him play, he can’t play. I’m the one who decides, I’m the coach. I had a discussion with him and I don’t know how he interpreted it.”responded the Merengue coach to the criticism. The club believes that the dressing room now lacks a real leadership structure capable of maintaining the balance of the group.

Internally, several behaviors of Mbappé would worry the Madrid management. Some of his teammates no longer understand certain attitudes of the Frenchman and management is aware that he has moved away from the group. Despite these tensions, Real Madrid continues to consider the recent Golden Boot as a central piece of the sporting project for the future. But the message remains clear: no player is above the institution, as was already the case with Cristiano Ronaldo or Sergio Ramos. A meeting is therefore considered essential in order to restore order before next season.
