The speech of the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, on the subject of the Negreira affair, caused the boss of La Liga, Javier Tebas to react.

Following a press conference during which he announced the establishment of early elections for the presidency of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez went on television to answer questions from Josep Pedrerol. The opportunity for him to revisit one of his favorite subjects; the Negreira affair. But his words angered Javier Tebas.

The Negreira affair, named after the former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), José Maria Enriquez Negreira, between 2001 and 2018, is a case in which FC Barcelona and several of its former senior officials are under investigation for alleged payments exceeding 8.4 million euros. The club would have bribed José Maria Enriquez Negreira.

President of La Liga, Javier Tebas therefore responded to Florentino Perez’s comments, while the latter was on the air of La Sexta. “I repeat what I already explained on December 15, because the false scenario persists. Florentino Perez states that ‘Real Madrid are the only ones to appear in court’ and that ‘La Liga showed up and did nothing’. This is false. Real Madrid was not the first: it was the last. Before him, La Liga appeared before the prosecution and referee Estrada appeared in court. The evidence exists. »

Florentino Perez directly targeted

In his messages published this Thursday on X, the leader of the Spanish football league brought to light the conflict between him and the president of Real Madrid. “An observation for those of us who know the real Florentino in private: during Tuesday’s press conference, we saw the real Florentino, not the one we saw with Pedrerol, who had taken a little pill to help lie better. »

Javier Tebas also wanted to make one thing clear, in relation to a statement made by Florentino Perez about the relationship between La Liga and Relevo. “The real relationship between La Liga and Relevo is linked to the joint exploitation of Fantasy. This relationship allowed the league to pocket profits. So, not only did we not finance Relevo, but it was precisely the opposite: we recovered profits for La Liga. » And to conclude with a direct message for the Madrid leader: “Florentino, I don’t see you getting very good advice lately. Either you lie or we tell you lies. »
