This Friday, José Mourinho (63 years old) was expected by the press. Once again, its future was at the center of debate. Regarding a contract extension at Benfica, he said: “yes, I received a contract extension offer from Benfica on Wednesday. It was given to my agent, but I didn’t want to see it, find out about it, or analyze it. I will only do it from Sunday, I will say things on Sunday (…) Concerning Real Madrid, they never informed me of an offer. Neither the president nor any other important person in the club. But if they had told me, I would have reacted exactly the same way.”

The Special One added: “Next week will be important for me, for my future, and also for Benfica. At the end of the season, Benfica must start thinking about the next one. But, according to the contract and the agreement I signed when I arrived, we have a few days to see how things develop and make a decision. Benfica is much bigger than me, there is no comparison. It’s bigger than everyone, coach, player, president, anyone. So, regarding my personal situation, I think there is no need to worry, because the club is bigger than everyone and there is no need to worry if someone leaves. He ended his press conference by specifying that he had not seen the conference of Florentino Pérez, with whom he did not communicate. Mourinho will make his announcement in the coming days regarding his future in Lisbon and a return to Madrid.
