It’s been expected for several weeks, it’s now official. At the age of 40, Manuel Neuer will continue at least one more season with Bayern Munich. As he came to the end of his contract this summer, the Bavarian goalkeeper signed a new contract until 2027. The German club made the news official this Friday.
“I had a very good Club World Cup; the intensive preparation last summer did me a lot of good. I was also able to regularly take time for my body and my health. Then, we started well with the victory in the Super Cup and had a very good first half of the season. We bonded even more as a team. From the start, everything came together perfectly this season. Including the technical staff: what we do on the pitch every day, the atmosphere in the locker room, the motivation and energy that reigns in the team – all this has allowed us to have a successful season, to play beautiful football and to take real pleasure in going to Säbener StraĂźe every day. This is how my decision finally came to fruition.”explained Neuer. Bayern Munich have also extended the contract of their second goalkeeper Sven Ulreich until 2027 as well.
