Genesio in Marseille, it’s validated

OM could well entrust the reins of their first team to Bruno Genesio next season. A choice validated by many observers.

Habib Beye will no longer be the coach of OM next season, despite a current lease expiring in June 2027. With the arrival at the helm of a new president and a new sporting director, the staff promises to change entirely, to instill a completely new project, with resources necessarily revised downwards.

The trend for the future is towards a French technician experienced in the workings of Ligue 1. Marseillais Christophe Galtier, spent in his career by Saint-Etienne, Lille, Nice and PSG before his exile in the Middle East, today in the Saudi ranks of Neom, is mentioned with insistence. Only the latter would like sporting and financial guarantees that the new management does not seem able to offer him.

The other name most regularly cited is none other than that of Bruno Genesio. The latter arriving at the end of his contract at LOSC and corresponding to the profile sought by the Marseille staff. Many observers thus validate this last avenue. “ Bruno Genesio, with what he experienced in Lyon, he knows what to expect in Marseille. Genesio-Lorenzi, who arrive hand in hand, who recruit together, with Ligue 1 players, trying to put something in place tactically, I think that can do it », says Benoît Trémoulinas, now a consultant on the L’Equipe channel.

A legitimate lead in a “Franco-French” project

Same optimism expressed by former professional player Charlotte Lorgeré, also a consultant for L’Equipe from now on. “ For me, it’s ultra compatible! Already, he knows the context and this club extremely well because he is a French coach. When they are foreign coaches, they know a little bit of the context, but not really. Whereas he knows. »

On RMC, Walid Acherchour is more mixed but doesn’t see it as a bad idea either. “ He must be in a shortlist for Olympique de Marseille if he is on the market. We will also have to see what he does at the end of the season with Olivier Letang if there is a Champions League for Lille. In any case if Genesio is on the market, there must be reflection around it, especially if there is a Franco-French project with a French sports director. »
