“It’s the right profile and the right time. » While the arrival of Grégory Lorenzi as sports director at OM is confirmed by The TeamEric Di Meco, legend of the Marseille club, believes that Christophe Galtier is the perfect coach. Lorenzi, who will leave Stade Brestois in the coming weeks to succeed Mehdi Benatia, should entrust the reins of Ciel et Blanc to a coach who knows Ligue 1 perfectly. The objective is simple: relaunch Frank McCourt’s club, which will spend much less money under the presidency of Stéphane Richard.
Questioned in the Super Moscato Show On Monday, Di Meco first clarified that Galtier is “more than a friend, he’s a friend”, since the two players were trained together at OM. If Christophe Galtier did not win anything with the Phocéens in two spells (1985-1987 and 1995-1997), Di Meco is a four-time French champion and above all a winner of the Champions League in 1993 (starting on the left side during the final against AC Milan).

The latter was assistant coach to Bernard Casoni in 1999 then interim coach for six days the following year. His dream of coaching OM, the native by birth, could take shape at 59 years old.
