Benjamin Pavard, it’s decided

Author of a very bad season with OM, which will cause him to miss the 2026 World Cup with the France team, Benjamin Pavard, 30, has made a decision concerning his future.

OM’s choice was not good and the bet made by Benjamin Pavard was lost. Pushed towards the exit by the leaders of Inter Milan last year, the 2018 world champion defender chose to return to Ligue 1, to a club qualified for the Champions League, in order to give himself every chance of competing in the 2026 World Cup with the France team. The disaster is total for this 30-year-old player who plunged during the Phocaeans’ bad season.

Loaned by the Nerazzurri with a purchase option of 15 million euros, Pavard will not stay in Provence. His new management has no reason to permanently recruit the French international and the latter has already decided to go on vacation – without playing in the World Cup – before returning to Milan. The former Bayern player is going through his team’s last matches like a ghost, without any determination displayed on the pitch. It’s terrible for a player of his stature.

Pavard has a preference

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Benjamin Pavard wants to stay at Inter in order to fight for a starting place next season under Cristian Chivu. The French international with 55 caps (for 5 goals) probably believes that Serie A is the championship that suits him best.

That said, Inter will perhaps be rather favorable to a sale of the Northerner (in the Premier League for example) since Manuel Akanji, recruited for 15 million euros last summer from Manchester City, has established himself as one of the defensive captains of the team and Yann Bisseck, who put Pavard on the bench last season, remains a reliable defender.
