Disappointed a week earlier in Nantes, OM regained none of their splendor this Sunday in Le Havre but at least they reconnected with the virtues of combativeness which allowed them to take three precious points in Normandy as part of the 33rd and penultimate round of Ligue 1.
Sluggish certainly, the Marseillais were still able to make the difference thanks to Greenwood, from the penalty spot (0-1, 55th). A sentence which, however, did not benefit the HAC, seeing Boufal collide with the upper post of the cage defended by Rulli a full quarter of an hour later (71st).
Building on this victory, the Olympians move up a place in the standings, sixth thanks to the success of Lille in Monaco (0-1). With a final to play for fifth position synonymous with the Europa League, next Sunday at the Vélodrome, against Stade Rennais.
The HAC still on borrowed time
In the event of a draw during this meeting, however, the Phocéens would have to settle for the Conference League, when defeat could condemn them in the race for Europe if ASM at the same time were to dominate Strasbourg. All these rewards are likely to change depending on the result of the Coupe de France final which will soon pit RC Lens against OGC Nice.
For Le Havre, the season is not yet over either. 14th in Ligue 1 but not yet maintained, the Normans remain under direct threat from Auxerre and Nice before the final act which will see them travel to Lorient while AJA will challenge LOSC and Le Gym will face FC Metz.
