Author of a super final sprint, Olympique Lyonnais now finds itself in a bad position in the race for qualification in the Champions League before the last weekend of Ligue 1. Les Gones lost at Toulouse FC (2-1) on Sunday evening on the penultimate day of the championship and lost its 3rd place in the standings to OL. Only the third will qualify directly for the C1 with PSG and RC Lens, the 4th being obliged to go through two qualifying rounds to access the league phase.
Paulo Fonseca’s team struggled to recover from the Violets’ opening score by left back Dayann Methalie, offset by Yann Gboho (10th). Tenth in the ranking, the Toulouse team no longer plays anything and held on against Afonso Moreira in particular. Dominik Greif even saved the Lyonnais on a header from Charlie Cresswell (64th).
OL finishes against RC Lens
If Corentin Tolisso equalized with a header from a corner from Endrick (71st), for his 15th goal and his 4th goal in a row (!), Téf regained the advantage straight away through Waren Kamanzi (78th). The Toulouse team finished the match at 10 with the exclusion of Aron Donnum (79th) but the Lyonnais were unable to snatch a point.
OL no longer have their destiny in their hands and will have to win against RC Lens in a week. The Sang et Or are almost no longer able to come back against PSG. In the shock of the evening, it was Losc who achieved an XXL coup by winning on the field of AS Monaco (0-1), with an own goal from Denis Zakaria (72nd). Bruno Genesio’s Dogues will host Auxerre to try to finish on the podium. The Burgundians have left the red zone and will need to achieve a result to avoid crossing the roadblocks again!
