Not spared from physical worries, Alphonso Davies has only played 23 games this season, including just eight as a starter in all competitions. He recovered with difficulty from a ruptured lanterior cruciate ligament in the right knee, which occurred in March 2025 during a friendly match with his selection, which caused tensions between Bayern and the Canadian federation.

“Our priority is to support his recovery and provide him with all available resources, including specialist soft tissue expertise, to give him the best possible path back to full fitness ahead of the FIFA World Cup.”indicates the press release from Canada Soccer taking note of the captain’s injury.

Canada will make its World Cup debut on June 12 against Bosnia-Herzegovina, before continuing against Qatar (June 18) and Switzerland (June 24).
