It was an astonishing speech that Pierre Sage gave, while RC Lens is still in the race for the title of champion of France.

Friday evening, Racing Club de Lens officially sent FC Nantes to Ligue 2, by winning (1-0) the advanced match of the 33rd day of Ligue 1. A victory which allows the Sang et Or to maintain their hope of being crowned champion of France.

We still have to believe it. Which does not seem to be the case for Pierre Sage, who has already congratulated Paris Saint-Germain.
“Well done to them, they managed to win the title and I hope to win a second Champions League”reacted the 47-year-old technician at a press conference.

With yesterday’s Lens victory, PSG will not be able to officially win the 14th French championship title in its history this weekend. Indeed, a success against Stade Brestois, Sunday evening at the Parc des Princes, will not be mathematically enough.

Lens-PSG, final in perspective

Currently, three points separate the capital club from its runner-up in the standings, knowing that RC Lens has played one more match. On May 13, these two teams will meet at the Bollaert-Delelis stadium.

This meeting, counting for the 29th day of Ligue 1, will serve as the final of the French championship. Nine days later, the Lensois will play the final of the Coupe de France, against OGC Nice.
