In a long press release published on his social networks this Thursday evening, Federico Valverde took the floor to give his version of the facts, while the rumor has been circulating since this afternoon according to which the Uruguayan fought with Aurélien Tchouameni. A blow from the Frenchman would have caused him to fall, subsequently causing him a head trauma. However, according to Valverde, no blows were exchanged between the two men. The Uruguayan even goes so far as to say that “his small cut on his forehead” was caused after “accidentally hitting a table”.

“Yesterday I had an incident with a teammate during a training sessionhe writes. Competition fatigue and frustration made everything seem blown out of proportion. In a normal locker room, these things can happen and are usually resolved internally without it becoming public knowledge. Obviously, someone here is spreading rumors, and with a season without titles, where Real Madrid is still under fire, everything takes on exaggerated proportions. Today we had another disagreement. During the argument, I accidentally hit a table, which caused a small cut on my forehead requiring a routine hospital visit. At no point did my teammate hit me, and I didn’t hit him either, although I understand it’s easier for you to believe that we came to blows or that it was intentional, but that didn’t happen.”

Valverde denounces lies

The Uruguayan adds: “I’m sorry. I am really sorry because this situation hurts me, this moment we are going through is painful. Real Madrid is one of the most important things in my life, and I cannot be indifferent to it. The result is an accumulation of things that results in a senseless quarrel, which tarnishes my image and leaves room for doubt to invent stories, slander and throw fuel on the fire of an accident. I have no doubt that any disagreement we might have off the field ceases to exist on the field, and if I have to defend him inside a stadium, I will be the first.

“I wasn’t planning to speak out before the end of the season. We were eliminated from the Champions League, and I kept my anger and resentment to myself. We wasted another year, and I was in no position to post on social media when the only face I had to show was on the field, and I think that’s what I did. This is why I am the one who is most saddened and pained to go through this situation which prevents me from playing the next match due to medical decisions. I have always given my all, to the end, and it hurts me more than anyone else not to be able to do that. I am available for the club and my teammates to collaborate in any decision they deem necessary. An exit which comes a few minutes after that of Real Madrid to open disciplinary proceedings against the two players. The Merengue club also announced that Valverde would be unavailable between 10 and 14 days due to his head trauma.
