The clash between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain promises to be one of the hottest meetings of the European season, in direct continuity with a first leg match that has already entered the recent legend of the Champions League. At the Parc des Princes, the two giants put on a totally unbridled spectacle, an offensive battle of rare intensity concluded with a stunning score of (5-4) in favor of the Parisians, a record at this stage of the competition. It all started at a hellish pace, with Bayern opening the score quickly before an immediate response from an incandescent PSG, carried by fiery individuals and an ability to suddenly accelerate the tempo of the match. The waves followed, the defenses suffered, and each highlight turned into a clear chance, giving the feeling that each attack could end up in the bottom.

However, PSG thought they had done the hard part by leading well in the second half, before seeing the Bavarians come back with impressive mental strength to completely restart the confrontation against an ever-increasing Paris. “I don’t like ranking things like that. They have been the strongest team in Europe in recent years, they have won the Champions League. In addition to the quality and training, the age of the team also works in their favor. They continue to progress, they constantly learn. They are a team that we respect and are very difficult to play against. We think the same about ourselves, though, and that we can beat them tomorrow“. This totally crazy scenario, where the balances have constantly shifted, has left a strong certainty before the return, this semi-final is anything but over.

No change of style expected

In this electric context, Vincent Kompany set the tone by promising a new open and intense match, faithful to the offensive identity of his team and the appearance of the first act. Frustrated at having experienced this thriller from the stands, but convinced of the potential of his players, the Belgian technician displays assumed confidence before returning to his bench for this decisive meeting, with the conviction that his team can turn the situation around at home. “It always depends on the teams. If one decides to take a step back and defend more, then there could be calmer phases in the match. Otherwise, no. It’s hard to imagine either team changing what got them here in the first place. We play at home, we want to win and we will do everything for that. The mission is to win matches. We have ideas that we think will help us get there. It’s just about that” Because despite the defeat, Bayern demonstrated an ability to make any defense falter, scoring four goals in Paris and coming from very far behind in a meeting where time seemed to have passed.

“We showed that we can win a lot of matches, PSG showed it too. In the end, you have to score one more goal than your opponent to win a match. If you can do it without cashing out, it’s the best thing that can happen», concluded the Belgian coach. Same story for Tah: “In general, our style of play has gotten us to where we are today. It wouldn’t make sense for us to change anything about that. We want to play attractive and attacking football. Of course it’s demanding, but it’s our style of play and we won’t change it“. The Allianz Arena is now preparing to play its role as a catalyst in what is expected to be a heated evening, where the Germans will have to make up for a one-goal deficit against a PSG who are dreaming of a new final. Between two teams resolutely focused on attack, supported by talents capable of turning a match on its head at any moment, everything suggests that this second act could be as good as the first, or even more spectacular.
