The slap received on Saturday by OM against Nantes (3-0) triggered a new wave of virulent criticism among observers.

Olympique de Marseille continues to fall slowly but surely in the Ligue 1 standings. Beaten this Saturday at FC Nantes (3-0, 32nd day), Habib Beye and his men played a third match without success (2 defeats and 1 draw). Enough to leave the European places, while seeing the hope of direct qualification for the Champions League recede even further. On the side of observers, a new storm has awakened.

Among the most virulent, Daniel Riolo sent out a concise message on his social networks. “Has OM thought about an internship on the moon? No kidding, it’s crazy. Coach, DS (sports director), players… They can all resign tomorrow morning…” Referring in this message to the stay spent in Spain by OM a few days ago in an attempt to strengthen ties, the journalist was followed on the subject by his colleague Dave Appadoo.

At the RTL microphone, the latter compared this with the one made during the Roberto De Zerbi era. “Last year, they did it with constructional virtues (…). There we have the impression that it was a sanction. It’s a shipwreck with everything and its opposite inside, the best way to lose your locker room. Because (the players) felt it that way. And they were right. »

“Accountability” to OM

Then the France Football journalist added: “There are people in Marseille who will have to be held accountable, who arrived with their muscles out. I am thinking in particular of Medhi Benatia, but not only. He’s still in charge, that’s why I’m talking about it (…). On his social networks, Pierre Ménès gave a first impression of what he saw in Nantes. “What is happening at Beaujoire is totally insane. »

And yet, all is not yet lost for the Marseille club, which still has two games left (at Le Havre and against Stade Rennais) to try to save what can still be saved. It remains to be seen whether the players and staff will manage to have a final burst of pride.
