The Roberto De Zerbi effect is being felt at Tottenham! The Italian coach won his first match in Wolverhampton (0-1), in pain, on the ground of the red lantern. A week later, Spurs followed up by winning at Aston Villa (1-2), against a team of a completely different caliber, well on their way to competing in the Champions League next season.
The Londoners clearly deserved this success, since they made the difference very quickly, through Conor Gallagher (12th) and Richarlison (25th). The Spurs then held on without trembling, until Emiliano Buendia’s goal (90th + 6), too late to reignite the suspense.
Roberto De Zerbi’s players showed a combative face, like Randal Kolo Muani who was acclaimed upon his exit after winning the most duels (9). And Tottenham thus leaves the red zone, three days from the end, at the expense of West Ham, now 18th.
