Bradley Barcola, things go wrong

In form since the start of the year with seven goals scored, Bradley Barcola has been playing a series of bland performances for several weeks. His start against Lorient (2-2) on Saturday is inconclusive.

It is also one of the matches in the match every time PSG goes out. Désiré Doué and Bradley Barcola are competing for the third attacking position in Luis Enrique’s starting XI to accompany Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Their respective good performances will perhaps give them the opportunity to start in the French team during the 2026 World Cup. But Doué is much more dashing than Barcola.

After his convincing performance during the fantastic 5-4 against Bayern on Tuesday evening, with two assists to his credit, Desiré Doué was returned to a mixed team when FC Lorient visited Saturday afternoon at the Parc des Princes. The former Stade Rennais prodigy, still as determined and less individualistic as a few months ago, is on the two Parisian goals, with a cross which allowed Ibrahim Mbaye to open the scoring (6th) and shifting Warren Zaire-Emery for a long-deflected shot (62nd).

Luis Enrique’s shouting at Barcola

Barcola, for his part, did not make enough difference against the Merlus on his favorite left wing. He did not create a single chance for any of his teammates in 90 minutes on the pitch and tried his luck three times without success. In great form in February and March (5 goals, one assist), he has been back in line for a month. Before PSG-Lorient, he did not shine during his starts against OL, his training club, and Angers.

Luis Enrique also had him in his sights after the first equalizer signed Pablo Pagis (12th). If Dro Fernandez took a big blow from the Asturian coach, Bradley Barcola also took a big blow from his coach on this goal, since the striker let Panos Katséris cross. It was even before the end of the first quarter of an hour of play and the 23-year-old French international (18 caps, 3 goals) had not entered his match and barely did better afterwards. Disappointing.
