Captain of PSG, 2025 European champion, at the club since 2013, Marquinhos made Champions League history on Tuesday evening.

The most capped player in the history of PSG, with 519 matches played in all competitions, far ahead of Jean-Marc Pilorget (435) and Marco Verratti (416), Marquinhos sets a new personal record of choice. The Brazilian central defender is celebrating his 13th year at the club (he was recruited from AS Roma in 2013) and is taking the opportunity to make Champions League history, having lifted the cup with big ears last year with the Rouge et Bleu.

Almost 32 years old (May 14), Marquinhos played his 120th C1 match when Bayern came to the Parc des Princes on Tuesday evening in the semi-final first leg of the Champions League. He becomes the Brazilian with the most UCL matches, tied with Roberto Carlos, who has 13 matches with Fenerbahçe in addition to his 107 with Real Madrid. “Marqui” has scored 8 times, including twice this season, against Atalanta and AS Monaco.

Marquinhos 1st, Thiago Silva off the podium

His former mentor Thiago Silva is not very far, since he has 105 Champions League matches (20 with AC Milan, 60 with Paris Saint-Germain and 25 with Chelsea), but it is Dani Alves who is the third most capped Auriverde with 111 LDC matches with Sevilla (8 matches), Barça (80), Juventus (12) then PSG (11).

Fernandinho (103 matches with Shakhtar Donetsk and Manchester City) and Marcelo (102 matches with Real Madrid) are the other Brazilians above the 100 matches mark in the Champions League.
