The day after the offensive storm which took place on the lawn of the Parc des Princes between PSG and Bayern Munich (5-4), the second semi-final first leg of the Champions League will take place this Wednesday on the side of Madrid, with a duel between Atlético and Arsenal. A meeting threatened by an alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The Spanish national meteorological agency (Aemet) issued an orange alert on Tuesday for Wednesday April 29 in the Madrid sky and around the capital. She indicated that possible violent thunderstorms and localized heavy rain could occur, with a direct impact on the semi-final which will be played at the Metropolitano.
The day before this European semi-final first leg, the authorities recommended that traveling supporters take additional precautions. For example, they were invited to leave their personal vehicles at home as much as possible and to use public transport.
Atlético-Arsenal under a threatening sky
A few hours before kick-off, the alert remains in force, as confirmed by Marca, although there is no concern about the meeting taking place. The English supporters took over the streets of Madrid and quickly created some atmosphere. Presented by the English bookmakers as the favorite for final victory in this C1 2025-2026, Arsenal hopes to reach this new milestone against the Colchoneros who took out FC Barcelona to everyone’s surprise in the quarter-finals.
The two teams faced each other once this season, as part of the third day of the league phase of this Champions League, and it was the Gunners who won by pulverizing their Madrid opponents at the Emirates Stadium (4-0). Viktor Gyökeres scored his double.
