The sanction has fallen and it is not kind to this great football hope suspected of doping.

He has not played in an official match since November 28, 2024 – a Conference League match between Heidenheim and Chelsea. Suspended as a precautionary measure since then, Mykhaïlo Mudryk is not about to touch the ball again. The English Football Association (FA) hit hard against him this week.

The Ukrainian international received a suspension of four for violation of anti-doping rules while a positive test for meldonium stopped his rise in October 2024. A substance supposed to prevent the risk of heart attack, meldonium has been on the list of products banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency since 2016 because it is likely to improve the performance of an organism short of oxygen.

An appeal lodged with the CAS

Like Maria Sharapova, suspended for two years by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) in June 2016, Mykhaïlo Mudryk, 25, finds himself ostracized from world sport at the height of his glory, only a year and a half after signing up for Chelsea against compensation of 70 million euros.

The young left winger has already appealed this FA suspension to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). “The parties are currently exchanging written documents, and no hearing date has yet been set,” confirms the court concerned via the BBC.
