Established since last summer in Saudi Arabia, Kingsley Coman is having a simply remarkable season under the colors of Al Nassr. The former player trained at Paris Saint-Germain displays the best statistics of his career with 14 goals and 11 assists in 36 matches in all competitions, largely surpassing his previous record established at Bayern Munich (10 goals in 2018-2019). In an impressive attacking quartet made up of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mané and João Félix – also in full renaissance – the French international shines, taking advantage of an ideal context to fully express his qualities. An indisputable starter under the orders of Jorge Jesus, he now plays mainly on the right side, a repositioning which highlights his versatility and could weigh in the balance with a view to the 2026 World Cup.

His impact is not limited to the Saudi championship. In the Asian Champions League, Coman made his mark with a resounding hat-trick in the semi-final against Al Ahli Doha, confirming his return to his best level. He will also be keen to continue this momentum this Wednesday against the Riyad Mahrez gang, Al Ahli, another major meeting in an already exceptional season. On a collective level, everything is also smiling at Al Nassr, solid leader of the Saudi Pro League with a comfortable lead over Al Hilal. Coman is on his way to his first major title with his current club.

Can Kingsley Coman really make his return to the French team?

However, everything has not been so smooth in recent months in the selection. During his return with the Blues in October 2025, the French winger left a mixed impression, particularly against Azerbaijan. Capable of some flashes, he however suffered from a lack of consistency, losing 17 balls and missing several checks, before being replaced by Christopher Nkunku. A lackluster performance which did not make it possible to really revive his position in Didier Deschamps’ offensive hierarchy. At that time, the competition seemed to definitely take over, with young profiles like Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué, Rayan Cherki and Maghnes Akliouche.

But the situation has changed. Buoyed by his performances in the SPL, Coman once again invites himself into the debate, especially as the terrible loss of Hugo Ekitiké reshuffles the cards in attack, injured in the Achilles tendon. Facing him, the competition remains dense and varied, between Randal Kolo Muani, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Florian Thauvin, Estéban Lepaul and Eli Junior Kroupi. But the former Bavarian has a significant advantage: his experience at the very highest level and his 61 caps for the French team. In an interview given to The Teamhe also displayed intact confidence: “surprised to be back my return? Not really. I played in Europe for ten years, and I’ve only been there for a month. You don’t lose your qualities. I am the same player as at Bayern. I’m not going to lose my level in a year either. I am always ready to help the selection. I am sure I can maintain my level. I will continue to want to be the best player possible. And my knowledge of the high level, I will always have it. »

Lucid despite everything, Coman does not close any doors, even if it means showing a certain distance: “I would even prefer not to do a World Cup to make room for a young person if it means coming and doing nothing”. A statement which illustrates both his personal demands and his awareness of the strong competition. The fact remains that its current performances largely speak in its favor. Even if his development in the Saudi Pro League can weigh on the coach’s choices, nothing is set in stone. A few weeks before the announcement of the list, scheduled for May 14 at 8 p.m. TF1Kingsley Coman has clearly relaunched his candidacy, even if he did not appear at the last rallies. Given its current dynamic, nothing is impossible.
