Tomorrow evening, Paris Saint-Germain will face Bayern Munich in the semi-final first leg of the Champions League. A shock for which the capital club will count on Ousmane Dembélé to make the difference. And for the anecdote, the French international could have played in the opposite camp if he had not chosen Borussia Dortmund in 2016. This is what the former Munich manager, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, revealed.

“I was personally involved in the Dembélé issue (as CEO of Bayern, editor’s note). We, especially our sporting director at the time, Michael Reschke, were determined to sign him, but unfortunately Dortmund beat us to it. (…) At the time, Dembélé was playing at Stade Rennais. The owners of the club were also those of Puma. Dortmund had an equipment supplier contract with Puma. It was therefore obvious that we, a club sponsored by Adidas, would not necessarily have priority. He was an exceptional player, but as we saw, he quickly left Dortmund for Barcelona. He is undeniably a very good player, but he also needs to be well supervised”he declared on T-Online.
