FA Cup, a great first in the final

The day after Manchester City’s qualification, it was Chelsea who won the second semi-final of the FA Cup against Leeds (1-0), Sunday at Wembley.

A weekend of football concluded at Wembley this Sunday, see you on May 16 for the FA Cup final in the same temple of English football in North London. On Saturday, Manchester City overthrew Southampton (2-1) on a missile sent by Nico Gonzalez in the 87th minute of the match.

Sunday afternoon, Chelsea held on against Leeds by winning 1-0, with a goal from Enzo Fernandez in the first period, with a header from a cross from Pedro Neto (23rd). The Whites reacted well but came across Robert Sanchez who made numerous saves.

A historic Man City-Chelsea

Interim Calum McFarlane’s Blues are only just emerging from the dismissal of Liam Rosenior, who failed to survive a cataclysmic run of five Premier League defeats without scoring, to fall to 8th place in the table. Malo Gusto and his teammates (the OL-trained full-back was very active in his lane) immediately offered themselves an opportunity to qualify for the Europa League in a very first final between Chelsea and Man City. The last clash between the two teams at Wembley, in the League Cup final in 2019, was decided on penalties (0-0, 3 tab to 4).

Absent last weekend, Cole Palmer came in for the last 20 minutes. Wesley Fofana remained on the bench, with Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo partnering in the central hinge.
