A few months ago, Azzedine Ounahi was considered undesirable on the OM side. Recruited after his 2022 XXL World Cup with Morocco, the young 26-year-old midfielder had never been able to confirm in the Olympian colors. And despite his very successful loan to Panathinaikos last season (where he finished as best player of the season), Ounahi failed to change the minds of the Marseille leaders. However, we had to wait until the very end of the transfer window to see the Moroccan international leave for Girona, after long negotiations.

For Azzedine Ounahi, his transfer to La Liga should allow him to finally blossom and show his potential. Because in a championship that seemed designed for his style of play, everything was there to see him shine. And even if his team is fighting and playing to maintain this season, the former Angers midfielder has managed to shine and make people talk about him. Indisputable in his new team, Ounahi has a series of starts and he rarely misses out. Scorer against Bilbao (twice), Real Madrid and Betis, he has now scored 5 goals (3 assists) in 18 La Liga games and has already won 4 man of the match titles since the start of the season (as many as Vinicius Jr or Raphinha).

City also pleases Ounahi

And obviously, his performances do not go unnoticed, far from it. A few days ago, Spanish media revealed that Azzedine Ounahi was of interest to Manchester City in its quest to find a replacement for Bernardo Silva. A rumor which is now confirmed by El Chiringuito this Friday. This track doesn’t come out of nowhere. Girona belongs to the City Football Group like Troyes and therefore Manchester City. And the link between the Spanish club and the English club has already proven itself. Savinho arrived at City two years ago from Catalonia. Vitor Reis, recruited by City, was loaned to Blanquivermells last season.

Proof that the English club likes to draw from the other clubs in the group. For Azzedine Ounahi, the amount of his clause was set at 20 million euros. An obviously derisory sum for Manchester City who could therefore take action. Note that the English press revealed during the week that the board citizen’s priority for the post-Bernardo Silva era was Enzo Fernandez, who was leaving Chelsea. On the side ofEl Chiringuitothere is also talk of interest from Atlético de Madrid and Italian clubs in Ounahi. But the latter visibly prefers City. A surprising file that will therefore have to be followed…
