OL received some very bad news this Wednesday from Brazil.

Brazilian justice has ruled on the dispute between Botafogo and OL, two clubs from the Eagle Football galaxy dear to a certain John Textor. According to information from the Auriverde Globo media, the Rio regional court handed down a heavy sentence against Les Gones this Wednesday.

The two teams are claiming millions of euros from each other for transactions that were not completed or settled, in addition to sporting damage allegedly suffered. At the end of a non-adversarial trial to which the Lyonnais were not even assigned, OL found themselves condemned to compensation of 21 million euros to be paid to the Carioca club.

Verdict expected in Lyon

Asked by L’Equipe, Lyon management indicated that it was awaiting notification of this alleged sanction before considering any appeal. At this stage, nothing says that OL will have to observe this unilateral sentence from Brazilian justice. But the execution of such a sentence would necessarily plunge the Rhone institution into embarrassment given its financial difficulties.
