Real Madrid have (finally) raised their heads. After four matches without the slightest victory, with its elimination against Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, the Madrid club took advantage of the reception of Deportivo Alaves to return to victory.
Despite a sluggish performance, the Merengue won 2-1 thanks to two goals from Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius. It was the Frenchman who opened the scoring after half an hour of play thanks to a lucky goal. While he had rolled his shot from twenty meters, his ball was blocked and caught the Basque goalkeeper on the wrong foot.
Thanks to this goal, the former Parisian has regained his ease at the top of the scorers’ ranking with now 24 goals and therefore three goals over his closest pursuer, the Bosnian Vedat Muriqi. But this goal was not enough to put a smile back on the faces of Madrid supporters.
Kylian Mbappé has it bad
Just a few minutes after opening the score, the Bondynois was also heavily whistled by the spectators at the Bernabeu after missing a big opportunity to double the score. As he raced towards goal, Kylian Mbappé attempted a lob from twenty-five meters, completely missing his attempt.
The French striker was not the only one to be attacked by the Merengue public. The same was true of Vinicius, and obviously of Eduardo Camavinga, excluded during the return match against Bayern and heavily whistled when he came into play and with each ball touched.
But the attitude of the Madrid supporters obviously did not please Kylian Mbappé. In the final minutes of the match, he remained stuck along the line, waiting for the referee to whistle the end of the match. And when the final whistle blew, he was the first to go to the locker room.
