In the mini-series Ronaldinho, “the one and only”broadcast on NetflixRonaldinho looks back on several key moments in his career, notably his time at Paris Saint-Germain between 2001 and 2003. But when he is questioned about his former coach Luis Fernández, with whom relations had greatly degenerated at the time, the Brazilian simply refuses to expand on the subject. A brief, almost icy response, which illustrates a resentment still very present more than 20 years after the events.
In the documentary, the tensions between the two men are recalled, particularly during a 2002-2003 season marked by sporting and disciplinary disagreements. At the time, Luis Fernández pointed the finger at the player’s lifestyle, citing late exits the day before matches, while Ronaldinho was regularly relegated to the bench. Asked today about this period, the former number 10 of PSG prefers to cut it short according to RMC Sport : “the other, I have nothing to say”a sentence which testifies to a conflict still undigested despite the time and the successes subsequently obtained at FC Barcelona, where he reached the peak of his career.
