More than ever this season, Bruno Fernandes is wearing Manchester United. Traveling to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea, as part of the 33rd day of the Premier League, the Red Devils were once again able to count on an offering from their captain. Indeed, the 31-year-old Portuguese midfielder delivered his 18th assist this season in the league, for Matheus Cunha’s opener shortly before half-time (43rd, 0-1).
Best passer in the Premier League, far ahead of Rayan Cherki and his ten assists, the former Sporting Club de Portugal attacking midfielder has largely exceeded his previous personal best with the Red Devils (12 – during the 2020/2021 financial year). He is also two offerings away from the record for assists in a single PL season (20), held by Thierry Henry (2002/2003) and Kevin De Bruyne (2019/2020). Note that Bruno Fernandes has also scored eight goals this season.
