The sports management of FC Barcelona, under the leadership of Deco, is actively preparing for next season. As for several years, the main objective is to rebuild the squad taking into account the economic and salary constraints of the club, while strengthening the key points to remain competitive on all fronts. Several operations are already under study: the recruitment of a top striker, the extension of Robert Lewandowski under readjusted conditions and the addition of a central defender as well as, possibly, a promising left winger.
To unblock these operations, the club is obliged to free up certain places in the squad. Two players, in particular, are concerned for a departure: Ferran Torres and Marc Casadó, announcement Sport. The first has not scored since the end of January and has not fully met expectations despite significant playing time, while the second, faced with a lack of minutes, remains followed by several clubs, including Atlético de Madrid. These possible departures would make it possible to finance new recruits.
Marcus Rashford case pending
The Catalan club’s aim remains to attract a star striker, with Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez in their sights. But also a quality central defender, with the operation targeting Alessandro Bastoni which seems to be progressing, the Italian being set to leave Inter Milan this summer. For the promising winger, names like Schjelderup, Jan Virgili or Víctor Muñoz are circulating. In any case, the salary must remain affordable, because the club’s economy still remains very tight.
We will therefore have to manage the sales of Ferran Torres and Marc Casadó to move forward this summer. Furthermore, the continuity of Marcus Rashford remains uncertain. The 30 million euros of the purchase option included in the loan of the Manchester United striker, even spread out in several installments, represents a significant amount for Barça. Added to this is his high salary. Files that Deco will have to quickly manage if it wishes to activate a large part of the reconstruction planned for this summer.
