At 34, Jorginho discovered, or rather rediscovered, Brazilian football. Born in Imbituba in the south of Brazil, the Italian international always played in Europe during his professional career before joining Flamengo last summer. He admits to The Times having served his time at Arsenal where he no longer took much pleasure in training. The fault is Mikel Arteta and his obsession with working on set pieces.

Mikel Arteta likes to put a lot of emphasis on set pieces, but to me it looks like boring homeworksays the midfielder. I had to find a place where I could enjoy playing football again. When you do your homework, you get results. But when you put so much emphasis on set pieces, you’re not playing football.» This method nevertheless bears fruit despite the boring quality of play of the Gunners.
