Arriving at Roma this winter from OM, Robinio Vaz still has to be content with limited playing time. The 19-year-old striker alternates between starters or matches on the bench, like against Inter Milan last weekend where he did not come on. At a press conference this Thursday, Roman coach Gian Piero Gasperini was asked to comment on his choice to prefer Donyell Malen, who has been less efficient in recent times.

“What are players like El Aynaoui, Ghilardi, Zaragoza or Vaz missing to establish themselves as indisputable starters in this team? I make choices, as always. Ghilardi, for example, played a lot, and Vaz had more opportunities here in Rome than in Marseille. Everyone had their chance and everyone played. Whether you think Vaz should play instead of Malen is another question. But I have to make choices.” Since his arrival at AS Roma, Vaz has scored one goal in 7 Serie A matches. He also had a solid match against Bologna in the 1/8 second leg of the Europa League (3-4).
