Back on the pitch with the France team, Kylian Mbappé was decisive during the friendly clash against Brazil (2-1). Recovered from his injury after the imbroglio around his knee, the captain of the Blues found a starting place in the colors of Real Madrid on the pitch in Mallorca, in a crucial match for the title race. But despite 90 minutes of play, the Frenchman was unable to prevent his team’s defeat against a team fighting for its survival (1-2). A setback which leaves FC Barcelona with seven points, eight days remaining.

A situation which angered the Madrid press, who no longer hesitated to attack Real Madrid’s current top scorer. Josep Pedrerol, presenter of the show El Chiringuito, was particularly harsh with the Merengue star: “Kylian Mbappé is very good, but he didn’t understand what Real Madrid was. I think he hasn’t yet understood what this club demands.”. “Arbeloa, show him the video of Luis Enrique from his PSG days”he added, in reference to a sequence where the Spanish technician pointed out Mbappé’s defensive involvement.

Kylian Mbappé frustrated against Mallorca

Before driving the point home: “Thiago Pitarch generates more enthusiasm than Mbappé… Mbappé scores goals, that’s good, but Real Madrid didn’t recruit him just for that”. For its part, the daily Marca nuance: “Real needs its goals. Until his injury, the team seemed to be thriving with him. But his absence also showed that the collective could exist without him. Mbappé had not participated in these five consecutive victories and Real left with their heads held high. Mbappé did not play badly, but was not decisive”he who rubbed shoulders with Léo Román in great form against Mallorca.

Same analysis on the side of A.S. : “Mbappé’s statistics are beyond doubt, nor is his immense talent, but for now, it’s as if two planets were evolving on their own“. Under pressure, Kylian Mbappé will nevertheless have the opportunity to silence the critics, on the pitch, during the upcoming clash against Bayern Munich, during the Champions League clash. A benchmark performance could be enough to silence the critics.
