At the Giuseppe Sinigaglia stadium, the locals had an almost perfect first half. Defender Alex Valle opened the scoring with a point-blank shot (1-0, 36th). Well served by Jean Butez, Argentinian international Nico Paz scored the break goal in Como with a curling shot from the left (2-0, 45th).
Totally overwhelmed, Inter Milan managed to get their heads above water just before half-time. Thanks to Marcus Thuram, author of his team’s first shot on target since the start of the match (2-1, 45th+1). Cristian Chivu’s men therefore returned to the locker room with a touch of hope, after a catastrophic first period.
In the second half, Sergi Roberto and his teammates showed a completely different face. The eldest son of Lilian Thuram scored a double by equalizing with a lob after a big error from the opposing defense (2-2, 49th). Denzel Dumfries, with a header, allowed Inter to go ahead on the scoreboard (2-3, 59th).
Como-Inter, end of match with twists and turns
Como pushed to equalize but lacked realism. Quite the opposite of their visitors, who added to the score following a new goal from their Dutch international (2-4, 72nd). The end of the match did not lack suspense with the reduction of Lucas Da Cunha’s score from the penalty spot (3-4, 89th) and a crossbar from Jacobo Ramon (90th + 2).
In the standings, Inter Milan now have a nine-point lead over Naples, who failed to win in Parma late in the afternoon. The title of Italian champion should no longer escape them. Como is in fifth place in Serie A.
