An association of Spurs supporters does not want Roberto De Zerbi on the London bench. Indeed, the LGBTQI+ association, Proud Lilywhites, attacked the former Olympique de Marseille technician – mentioned as a favorite to succeed Igor Tudor – for the Italian coach’s positions regarding Mason Greenwood, deemed incompatible with the values of inclusion and responsibility that the club must embody, according to them.
In a long statement, supporters believe that publicly defending Greenwood by minimizing the seriousness of the facts sends the wrong signal. “When someone in this position publicly defends a player like Mason Greenwood and presents the facts in a way that downplays the seriousness of what happened, that matters, not only in itself, but by the signal it sends (…) We demand accountability, transparency and leadership that reflects the values this club claims to uphold. That must mean something. No to De Zerbi”. The message got through.
