During the Italian stage of Legends Trophyformer AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko has spoken out about the race for the Scudetto this season. According to the Ukrainian, Inter have a larger squad and currently dominate the championship, but Milan are having an excellent season and remain in the race. “The victory against Torino is an important step; Allegri re-energized the team after the defeat against Lazio. I think Milan will win their next matches and put pressure on Inter: if Milan stay in touch, anything is possible. Everything will be played out there”he stressed.

Shevchenko also commented on the season of Rafael Leão, who was used up front despite his more natural role on one side. “Rafa is not a striker. He was asked to play up front: he performed well in some matches, less in others. Of course, he has to be ready to help the team, and he is the only one who can play that role. We can compromise the match, but not his attitude”said the Ukrainian. He added that, despite possible tensions with his teammates or the coach, “it is important to clarify the situation immediately” in order to preserve group cohesion.
