The dolce vita. Since his departure from LOSC in 2019, Rafael Leão seems to rather like Lombardy. There, the Portuguese was able to find a place of choice at AC Milan. Despite persistent rumors surrounding his future, he has always remained loyal to the Rossoneri. This season, under the orders of Massimiliano Allegri, he has totaled 10 goals and 2 assists in 24 appearances in all competitions. The last one dates back to Sunday against Lazio Rome in Serie A. On the field for 67 minutes, Leão was replaced.

When he left the field, he was particularly annoyed. Mike Maignan even had to calm him down. Except that the Lusitanian international, who pushed his coach away, did not come back down. After the match, he clashed in the locker room with Christian Pulisic, whom he had already reprimanded on the pitch for his choices. Leão was, in fact, seen making gestures of annoyance and anger after the American’s decisions. Once in the locker room, he continued and Massimiliano Allegri even had to intervene to calm everyone down according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Milan opens the door to his departure

Asked about the reasons for the anger of his 26-year-old player, the Italian coach admitted: “Leão was angry because he had done two good actions, they could have passed him and they didn’t.” We thought the episode was closed. Especially since AC Milan has no plans to sanction him, either sportingly or financially. Except that La Gazzetta dello Sport reveals that all this should not remain without consequences for the Portuguese, whose case has been raising questions for several months. The Rossoneri believe that he no longer brings as much as before, especially for one of the highest paid players in the group.

Under contract until 2028, the Lusitanian footballer discussed an extension until 2030. But the pink paper publication ensures that this does not prevent the Italian club from opening the door to his departure. It is even an option favored by Milan, who will examine all the offers that arrive. Although he has a release clause set at €170 million, the Lombards know full well that no one will put in that much. They also know that it is not worth that price at all today. An amount of €80 million is mentioned for Leão, whose future could lie in the Premier League or the Saudi Pro League. Proof that the Milanese no longer necessarily count on him, they have already identified his replacement. There GoS puts forward the name of Antonio Nusa from RB Leipzig. The Leão page is slowly turning in Italy.
