The clash between RC Lens and Paris Saint-Germain, scheduled for April 11, is at the heart of a standoff while the LFP must rule on a possible postponement. The Parisian club wishes to postpone the meeting in order to better prepare for its double confrontation against Liverpool FC in the Champions League, scheduled for April 8 and 14, and highlights France’s poor position in the UEFA index to justify this postponement.
For his part, the Lensois president, Joseph Oughourlian, is firmly opposed to it. “May the discussions be lively during the next LFP board meeting. This would mean that, when it comes to fairness, ideas can confront each other… I have few illusions!”he said, in a message published on LinkedIn. A position which illustrates the tensions around this burning issue, while the LFP board of directors must validate (or not) PSG’s request from Thursday.
