March 8, 2026 was synonymous with Derby della Madonnina day for Italy. A clash with high stakes between AC Milan (2nd) and Inter (1st), since the Interists could almost put an end to the fight for the title in the event of a victory against their historic rivals. For this meeting, Massimiliano Allegri’s Rossoneri presented themselves in 3-5-2 with Maignan, Rabiot, and Fofana starting in particular. A pattern also adopted by Christian Chivu’s Nerazzurri, who had to do without Marcus Thuram, who was ill.

In a San Siro on fire, it was the Milanese who opened the scoring thanks to Pervis Estupiñán, on a superb caviar from Youssouf Fofana behind the back of Luis Henrique (35th, 1-0). This single goal was enough for AC Milan who therefore won by the smallest of margins. With this victory, Milan returns to seven points behind the Interist leader.
