In 2022, the British government forced Roman Abramovich to sell Chelsea to Todd Boehly after freezing his assets following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Since then, the Russian oligarch has continued to fight against the British government to assert his rights and resolve this financial dispute. As reported The GuardianAbramovitch is even ready to go into legal territory.

The former Chelsea boss is demanding no less than 2.5 billion pounds, or 2.89 billion euros, from the British government. The 59-year-old businessman believes that this money, linked to the sale of the London club, belongs to him while they are currently blocked in a British account. The government wants this money to be used for Ukraine while Abramovich wants more flexibility in getting his money back.
