The affair continues to cause a lot of talk. The decision of the African Football Confederation to award the CAN 2025 final to Morocco on the green carpet, although it was won 1-0 by Senegal, does not pass at all in Dakar. The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has therefore decided to refer the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
While awaiting the verdict, FSF lawyers held a press conference in Paris on Thursday to clarify the decision of the CAF appeal jury. Maître Seydou Diagne notably explained that Morocco had been rejected two major requests: the withdrawal of the title from Senegal and the awarding of the trophy, medals and bonuses to Moroccan players.

Information confirmed by several documents consulted by RMC. The appeal jury’s press release does not at any time mention a title awarded to Morocco, only mentioning a “forfeit” and a 3-0 victory for Achraf Hakimi’s teammates during the final on January 18. Enough to maintain enormous confusion around the real winner of this CAN 2025.
CAF will soon deliver its verdict
According to several sources, the final decision now depends on the CAF executive committee, which meets this Sunday in Cairo. In the meantime, Senegal believes it is within its rights to present the trophy on Saturday at the Stade de France, before its friendly match against Peru.
But barring a huge turnaround, CAF could formalize Morocco’s title and ask Senegal to return the trophy, medals and bonuses. Patrice Motsepe must then speak publicly, a much-awaited speech in a file that has become explosive.
