Paris Saint-Germain will be able to benefit from a whole week to prepare for their Champions League round of 16 second leg against Chelsea thanks to the official postponement of their Ligue 1 match against FC Nantes. Initially scheduled for this weekend, the match will finally be played the week of April 20, after agreement from all parties, according to a press release from the LFP. This decision will allow the Parisian club to recover and prepare its players in the best conditions between the two European meetings.
After the victory against the Blues in the first leg at the Parc des Princes (5-2), Luis Enrique welcomed this postponement at a press conference on Wednesday evening: “It’s good for preparing for the match and recovering the players. We like to have time to prepare for matches. After the international break, we will have less time for Ligue 1.” With this respite, PSG will be able to approach the return to Stamford Bridge next week with fresh and better prepared players, a significant advantage in trying to lock in their qualification for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, after a good first round validated at home.
