Cologne decided to part ways with their coach Lukas Kwasniok this Sunday, after the spectacular draw conceded at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach (3-3) during the Rhine derby. This new change illustrates a chronic instability within the German club, which has its tenth coach in the space of 10 years, since the departure of Peter Stöger in 2017.

Currently 15th in the Bundesliga, Cologne remains under direct threat of the play-off zone, with only two points ahead of Sankt Pauli with 7 days remaining. Arriving last June, Kwasniok will not have resisted this delicate situation. Pending the appointment of a successor, his deputy René Wagner will act in the interim for the next meetings.
