He’s the player of the moment. Michael Olise continues to impress with Bayern Munich, and his new performance yesterday against Union Berlin (4-0) at the Allianz Arena during the 27th day of the Bundesliga illustrates this perfectly. Starting on the right lane of the attack under the leadership of Vincent Kompany, the French winger opened the scoring (43rd), scoring his 16th goal in all competitions. Better yet, the London native already has 25 assists this season, figures which confirm his meteoric rise in power: he has now been decisive (by the pass or the goal) against each of the Bundesliga teams. Already exceptional in the Champions League against Atalanta in the first leg (1-6), with a double and an assist, Olise continued high-level performances and quickly became an essential element in Kompany’s system.

The Bayern coach was also full of praise for his player after the match against Atalanta: “its development? I don’t think it’s just my management. I know him from his time at Crystal Palace with Patrick Vieira. I give him credit for that. He then arrived at Bayern with the mentality that gives him a chance to be one of the best players in the world. He is very meticulous in his work. I don’t want to compare the players, because they are not the same at all, but the mentality… When I played with Kevin De Bruyne, I had the chance to see him emerge as a young player and see him become a superstar, a world star, and I saw the whole process. It’s this obsession with detail. Michael has this. It’s not enough, I think we need to push him to do more, but he’s on a very good trajectory, and it’s a pleasure to witness it.”. These strong words underline Michael Olise’s work ethic, which makes him one of the most complete players in Europe at just 24 years old.

Michael Olise is on a mission

On the pitch, Olise impresses with his ability to cut into the axis, to combine with his teammates in one-twos, notably with Harry Kane, and to multiply curling strikes and hooks on his left foot. Always active on his side, he puts all the opposing full-backs in difficulty and organizes the game by pressing high and restarting the block. His style of play and his activity on the pitch are reminiscent of Antoine Griezmann’s best years at AtlĂ©tico Madrid, but with a unique touch specific to his nonchalant style. His role now goes beyond that of a simple winger, he has become Bayern’s offensive engine and the key element capable of turning each match around thanks to his left paw. The player would even interest the great Real Madrid, but Bayern denied an offer of 160 million euros.

A worthy heir to Griezmann with the Blues, the former Crystal Palace player arrived on tiptoe, but he quickly imposed his talent. Since his first rally, Didier Deschamps has not let go, convinced by his level. Capable of scoring from a free kick, also scoring or playing as number 10, Michael Olise has all the qualities to shine in the France team. Alongside Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé, he promises to be one of the main offensive assets of the Blues, ready to offer France its third star? Response in a few months.
