Jean Butez, current Como goalkeeper and former teammate of Willian Pacho at Royal Antwerp, spoke to The Team on the recent downturn of the Ecuadorian defender at PSG. With 53 matches played together in Belgium, the 30-year-old goalkeeper knows Pacho’s profile well and is not worried about his ability to bounce back. “To see him sign for PSG after his time at Antwerp and Frankfurt was not a surprise. What impresses is his consistency and his ability to seize opportunities. I have the impression of seeing the same player, with his chewing gum, his false nonchalance (laughs). It’s a paradox Pacho! He gives the impression of being nonchalant, but he is one of the most powerful players I have been around. As soon as he makes contact, he never gets caught. I’ve rarely seen such a strong player in there. He always intervenes at the right tempo with very intelligent placement. And how fast it is…”explains Butez.

Despite a few less dominant weeks, the French goalkeeper remains confident about Pacho’s reaction. “I don’t remember him going through this kind of period. He has always been super regular. I’m not on the team, but it’s also perhaps due to a more collective evil. Pacho has been on top of the world for months. It’s not humane to stay up there all the time. It’s normal to feel a little sluggish. He’s still young, that’s part of the game. He’s not the player who’s going to seek comfort. He knows how to find resources on his own. He goes out on his own to find the answers. He’s been through a lot in his life. I have no doubt at all that he will react. »added Butez. Pacho will appreciate it.
