A first major step has already taken place behind the scenes. According to the Spanish media Sportrepresentatives of Marcus Rashford met this Monday with sporting director Deco in the offices of FC Barcelona in order to lay the foundations for a definitive transfer this summer. The Catalan club’s objective is clear: keep the striker on loan, but by renegotiating the purchase option set at 30 million euros by Manchester United, an amount that English leaders currently consider non-negotiable.
Despite this blockage, Barça remains quite optimistic, convinced that the player’s desire to stay in Catalonia can move discussions forward in the coming weeks. The file, however, promises to be complex, in particular because of Rashford’s high salary, which is difficult to match with Barcelona’s payroll. But internally, the staff, starting with Hansi Flick, appreciate its impact and wish to be long-term, proof that the discussions, already started, could intensify as the summer transfer window approaches. To be continued…
