Present in Barcelona for the semi-finals of the Students Nations World Cup, Nicolas Anelka took advantage of the event to discuss the talents of world football. Asked about his favorite players, he cited Kylian MbappĂ© and Lamine Yamal: “Lamine Yamal and MbappĂ© are my two favorite players: two quality players, one from Barça, the other from Real Madrid; they are good rivals”. Anelka also addressed the 2018 World Champion’s recent injury, reassuring him about his ability to come back stronger: “he is resting and it will do him good because he played a lot of matches this season and the previous one, so it will improve his physical condition”.
The former Blues striker is confident for the upcoming World Cup, believing that France and Spain remain the two big favorites thanks to their quality squads: “both teams have excellent players and very high quality squads”. For Anelka, the gradual return of Mbappé is a major asset for Didier Deschamps and the Blues, who will be able to count on their flagship striker in the major events to come.
