Everything happened on the night of Sunday November 30 to Monday December 1. OGC Nice, returning from a lost trip to Lorient, was eagerly awaited by some of its supporters, who wanted to do battle with some, including Jérémie Boga. Insults, blows, the Ivorian attacking midfielder lived a nightmare that evening, and logically decided to no longer wear the Nice tunic. Placed on sick leave, like his partner Terem Moffi, also targeted, he therefore waited for a club to get him out of the impasse.

And it was Juventus who stood out, with memories of the twirling player who brightened up Sassuolo between 2018 and 2021. A godsend for Boga, as he confided during the first interview given in recent months to DAZN. “I am grateful every morning to be here, after what happened in Nice. I didn’t call anyone before signing because I wanted everything to go well. Then I called my father and my wife. My father didn’t realize it, he was happy and proud and told me: now that you are here, you must stay and prove your qualities.”he said.

Boga worried his family

Above all, he agreed to return, a little, to his torments in Nice and the weeks following his attack. “As you saw, a bit of everything happened with the fans. It was a difficult time for me and my family: I can’t go into details yet, I was stuck at home for two months with only my coach and my wife. It was tough, but I’m happy to be out of it. The first week I lost a few kilos because I didn’t eat much, and my family was also a little worried: it was a difficult time to forget, I want to move on. Did Juventus save me a little? Yes, they saved me: for me, it was like a blessing. I was out of the team for two months, and now I’m at Juventus. It’s a dream for me, I have to prove in every training session and in every match how lucky I was. »

Despite two months without playing, Jérémie Boga quickly found his way back to competition. Officially loaned to Juve on February 1, he came into play in the Italian Cup on February 5, then in Serie A on the 8th, with an assist against Lazio Rome. “For me, it’s just a question of rhythm, but I’m finding it little by little in training and on the pitch: I feel better every day, I’m on the right track”. The new objective for Boga will be to do everything so that Juve exercises its purchase option at the end of the loan. To avoid a return to Nice.
