During mid-season, managers often decide to make strong choices regarding their team’s technical staff. And as is often the case, when the results do not follow, the coach is the first to be ejected. After its slap received against PSG in the Classic (0-5), Olympique de Marseille decided to part ways with Roberto De Zerbi. In England, it was Tottenham who decided to terminate Thomas Frank’s contract after 16th place in the Premier League standings. And if for OM, the name of Habib Bèye comes up insistently, on the Spurs side, several names have been mentioned in recent hours.

The management of Spurs seemed to particularly appreciate two former OM coaches, namely Igor Tudor and therefore… Roberto De Zerbi who still has a good rating on the English market. But within the English club, the idea was above all to take on an interim coach until the end of the season to start a new cycle next summer. The option of an internal coach had thus been favored while President Daniel Levy still dreams of recovering Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the 2026 World Cup which he will play with one of the host countries: the United States.

Tottenham does not want to bet on the long term

Great names for the Spurs bench. But this Friday, the English press announced a rather improbable setup on the part of Spurs management. According to The AthleticTottenham has just reached an agreement with… Igor Tudor. The former Juventus coach will soon arrive to take charge of the English team. Except that he accepted the mission for only… 6 months. The 47-year-old Croatian coach would ultimately only be an interim coach to ensure the transition with the future coach and accepted this idea of a short mission without any options in his contract.

The press thus reveals that Tottenham wants Roberto De Zerbi as a priority for next summer and therefore wishes to wait until the end of the season to take action. The London club therefore does not want to bet on the long term with the coach who will arrive in the middle of the season, namely Tudor. Also, this solution allows the club to negotiate with Mauricio Pochettino since the former PSG coach obviously cannot leave his position as USA coach before the World Cup at home. Under the presidency of Daniel Levy, Tottenham is therefore preparing to carry out another rather improbable coup.
