The winter transfer window has just closed its doors in Europe, but FC Barcelona is already working on the face of its team for next season. And obviously, Marcus Rashford will be there. Loaned by Manchester United, the winger is back in Catalonia with 10 goals and 13 assists in 33 matches. Yesterday, the pro-Barça press confirmed the Blaugrana’s intention to permanently keep the Mancunian, and that the latter especially wanted to leave MU. Whether to play for Barça or elsewhere.

Well, barring a change in the situation, Marcus Rashford will continue his adventure in La Liga. Unable to fight in too expensive cases such as Luis Diaz or Nico Williams, Barça decided to bet everything on Rashford. In today’s edition, Sport ensures that the 2006 European champions have made the decision to exercise the €30 million purchase option. Barça has become aware that Manchester United will not grant a rebate and therefore wants to settle this matter once and for all.

Rashford to sign for three years

Within the Spanish club, it is estimated that Barça can afford the amount of €30 million and that this price remains more than affordable in the winger market. The Catalan daily even adds that Rashford will sign a three-year contract with a salary undoubtedly lower than the €14 million per year promised by his Mancunian lease. But that’s not all. Sport affirms that Barça is also thinking of completing a departure, that of Wojciech Szczęsny. As a reminder, the Catalans brought the 35-year-old Polish goalkeeper out of retirement in 2024, following the injury to Marc-André ter Stegen.

Joan Garcia’s understudy, Szczęsny has played 9 matches this season, in all competitions. The Pole is under contract until 2027 and remains placed ahead of a once again injured Ter Stegen in the hierarchy of Barça goalkeepers. However, the Spanish newspaper ensures that Barça is considering terminating its goalkeeper’s contract. The club has nothing to reproach Szczęsny, but they are thinking of a medium-term plan and the age of the former Bianconero risks playing against him. An agreement exists for an early separation since the Culés only have to sign a check for €2 million to Szczęsny to separate.
